Lori Meyers publish their first album, ‘Viaje de Estudios’, in 2004. One year after the second album ‘Hostal Pimodan’ the third, called ‘Cronolánea’ (2008), put Lori Mayers on top of the national charts.

At the moment, Lori Meyers is one of the most popular Spanish indie bands. The band is formed by Antonio López (lead singer and guitar), Julián Méndez (bass guitar and keyboard), Alejandro Méndez (guitar) and Alfredo Núñez (drums).

Lori Meyers’ music is strongly influenced by 60’s pop-rock and beat music. Their clean sound without any guitar distortion places their music in line of American melodic rock. A few bands of reference are: The Beach Boys, Pixies, Los Brincos and Los Planetas.

Here’s a little preview of Duffy’s performance at Glastonbury this weekend:

Duffy was born in 1984 in a small village called Nefyn in Wales. When she was a teenager she played in many local bands. In 2003 she participated in Wawffactor, an alternative version of Pop Idol and finished second. Duffy appeared on Later with Jools Holland in 2007. That same year Polydor signed the talented singer and shortly after her breakthrough was a fact.

In March 2008 Duffy released her debut album ‘Rockferry’ which immediately topped the UK and many other European charts. ‘Mercy’, one of the singles taken from this album, was good for many number 1 listings and a MOJO Award for ‘Song of the Year’ in 2008.

About Kasba
The Dutch/Moroccan formation Kasba play a mix of gnawa, reggada, raï, reggae, rock and funk. The name Kasba originates form the words Gasba; the traditional Moroccan flute and Kasbah; a meeting point for the inhabitants of villages in the Maghreb areas.

Because of the diverse musical backgrounds of the band members, Kasba created it’s own unique style. Traditional instruments and a lot of percussion easily go together with modern guitars, drums and keys.

For many years, Swedish singer/songwriter Tobias Froberg had been a journalist writing for newspapers and magazines. He used to say he would stop writing and start making music as soon as he had interviewed the famous movie director Ingmar Bergman and Neil Young. After interviewing Bergman and going to a Neil Young concert that same day, he found he had gotten close enough and started off his musical career.Tobias Froberg’s 2004 debut ‘For Elisabeth Wherever She Is’ was nominated for a Swedish indie Grammy. Already a week after its release he started recording 2006’s ‘When The Night Turns Cold’, which was followed-up by ‘Turn Heads’ in 2008.

Sins7sinS is the name of this new combination, a band that fills the gap between gothic and metal. A female fronted band that wishes to stand out by being louder and more focused on the overwhelming sensation of power which metal can bring, than other bands.

Sin7sinS was founded early 2006 and saw light under the banner of a project. A project that soon grew to maturity and released a demo called “$uicide for $ale” at the end of 2006. After this the project became a full band by finding the members it missed and the band slightly adjusted their musical path to what it is today.

Now with a 50min set of own material the band is ready to take it’s next step. Which is bringing the ‘Sin’ live to the stage and recording a full album in the near future.

We wrote a little story on Howlin Rain, but sound and video always says more. So you might wanna watch this video I found.

The music of the six-piece band is influenced by the strong but easygoing grooves of West Coast 70’s rock, in combination with blues, classic and psychedelic rock. In 2006 Howlin Rain started touring as opening act for Queens of the Stone Age.

Until this date, Howlin Rain released two albums on the independent Birdman label. 2006’s Debut album ‘Howlin Rain’ was followed up by Magnificent Friend in 2008.

Mike Patton’s latest project is called Mondo Cane. In Mondo Cane he performs a repertory of post-war Italian songs, some of which are in totally new arrangements but which are often surprisingly true to the style nevertheless

With a slik haircut and white custume, Patton puts on the role of a charismatic singing showmaster. On the other side there are the vocal fireworks for which Patton is renowned and that display the versatility of his voice. This makes Mondo Cane a schizophrenic, surprising and thrilling project.

All music is composed by Mike Patton together with Daniele Luppi, a young and talented Italian film music composer. On this special evening, organized by Holland Festival, the music is played by the Metropole Orchestra.
   

The first festivals already took place weeks ago, like Rock Am Ring and Pinkpop. And a lot of great ones are planned. Rock Werchter, Glastonbury, Sziget and of course Lowlands are coming up.

Lowlands is one of the hottest festivals here in Holland, with the most interesting acts and new talents. Most of us here at Fabchannel have been there and/or are going there. A lot of artists that are coming to Lowlands this summer have also played in front of our camera’s. To get in the Lowlands mood we’ve created ourselves a fabplayer with all Fabchannel artists who perform during this year’s Lowlands festival. Of course we are kind enough to share it with you.

About:

Orient Expressions is a project from Istanbul, Turkey. The band is a collaboration between Dj Yakuza, Cem Yldz and Richard Hamer. The three combine electronic music with Turkish folk music with jazzy vibes and traditional percussion rhythms.

At this show, Orient Expressions will be performing with Turkish singer and fellow citizen Aylin Aslim. Aylin was born in a village called Lich in Germany and decided later on to move to Turkey. There she started her musical career releasing her techno-pop album ‘Gelgit’. After this, she switched to pop/rock music.

The Amsterdam Klezmer Band complete the line-up. These seven Dutch Musicians play a refreshing mix of traditional Balkan and klezmer music. In 1996 Saxophone player Job Chajes started the band and directly impressed the public with their live performances. Later on they successfully collaborated with famous Dutch artists like C-mon & Kypski, Postmen and Normaal.

For those of you who aren’t yet familiar with the magnificent music of Elbow, check out this little preview.

Elbow’s first three EP’s were given extensive airplay on BBC Radio 1. In 2001 their debut album ‘Asleep In The Back’ was released on V2 and gained them several award nominations (a.o. for the NME and Brit Awards). ‘Cast of Thousands’ (2003) and ‘Leaders Of The Free World’ (2005) followed.

The fourth Elbow record ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ was issued in March 2008. The British quintet recorded this record without any help from outside the band.
